Dragon Robe

Court robe of loose gold k'ossu with diaper ground of blue quatrefoil medallions enclosing narcissus (?), blossom and grass green swastikas. Cf. 42.8.40, .41. Nine 5-clawed dragons in blue. In ground loose clouds, bats, apple (?) blossoms and Buddhist symbols in shades of blue, gree, red, rose, grey, yellow, and pink. Conventional border of slanting slightly stripes; light clouds, rolling waves scattered with Buddhist emblems. Below border on sleeve a strip of blister-ribbed silk. Cuffs and collar band of body k'ossu edged with brown and gold brocade. Painted details. Robe slit front and back and lined with blue figured satin.
