Sword guard (tsuba)
Sword guard, Kaneiye school, quadrilobed. Low relief landscape showing the poor sage in his pavilion reading by moonlight and its reflections in the river; sage and silvery moon on obverse; rear of pavilion and stream pattern on reverse. Carved and engraved design; gold, silver, and copper inlays; brown patina; rough rim. Three blade holes.
