Manchu Man's Formal Court Aprons

Skirt of dark blue k'ossu weave with narrow, stitched box pleats around hips. Wide running border of five-clawed gold-thread dragons; bats, clouds and Buddhist symbols above the Eternal Sea. Directly above a band of 5-clawed dragon medallions. Around the waist a band of 5-clawed dragons, clouds, and bats above the waves of the Eternal Sea. Design in shades of blue, green, yellow, orange and mauve with gold threads. Waist band lined with thin blue silk. Skirts of this type may have been used in Temple ceremonies.
