Dragon Robe
Court robe of dark blue k'ossu with nine 5-clawed dragons in gold, those in profile grasping Heavenly jewel. In ground loose cloud forms, bats, peonies, Buddhist symbols in shades of red, rose, blue, green, yellow, peach, dull mauve, and olive green. Conventional border of slightly wavy slanting stripes. Tight clouds below rolling waves in which appear Taoist symbols, a 'cash' and jui sceptre, coral. Below sleeve border a strip of midnight blue silk damask, medallion design. Cuffs and collar band of dark blue k'ossu edged with black and gold brocade. Slit back and front. Lining of blue satin damask. Much painted detail; k'ossu loose, especially in dragon area. Some mending.
