Skirt

Skirt of blue-black silk with a brocaded design in gold and colors. Design of bottom border shows five-clawed dragons, clouds and bats above the eternal sea. Below, a border of Greek key meander; above, a row of gold dragon medallions. At the waist, above a series of narrow darted box pleats, a band of the border design, with dragons, clouds etc, This is edged with a narrow band of the gold an black brocade which finishes the bottom of the skirt. Cf 42.8.205(c299) for same style of tailoring and design. Skirts of this type were possibly used for Temple ceremonies.
