crisp relief around the sides with four figural scenes two officials standing beside waves lapping at a pair of closed doors inscribed on a panel above with 'Dong Hai' (the Eastern Sea), a closed umbrella beneath a leafy tree to one side; a scene of an immortal and album-bearing attendant standing on a balustrated terrace overlooking plantains, a doorway to one side; a figure in a pavillion looking out at a figure with clasped hands standing before a ding censer emitting smoke atop an altar stand; an attendant bearing a stack of books and a scholar wielding a brush before a gate he has inscribed 'Sheng Xian Qiao' (Arch of the Ascending Immortals); all above a band of stiff leaf lappets, applied on the interior, exterior and interior footring with a sea-green glaze
