Imperial Robe

Imperial Robe of medium blue silk embroidered with swastika fret meander in soft jade green. in the field nine five-clawed dragons in gold; tight, white-eyed clouds; Buddhist and taoist synmbols; and bats carrying swastikas and jui sceptres. Border of slightly slanting diagonal stripes topped with rolling waves dotted with Buddhist symbols. Note formallized arrangement of clouds on striped section of border. Embroidery chiefly in satin stitch. Lining of pale mustard-colored silk of good luck pattern. Robe cut down and probably shortened.
