Chafing Dish

bowl-shaped body pierced with stylized petal forms and with a reeded rim; on three feet that are applied as long strips continuing upward to form top brackets; these are incised with a series of parallel lines at top and matching notches at bottom; the handle of fruitwood fits a silver socket attached to the top of the bowl just below the rim; a pierced circular plate is attached to the bottom of the dish inside and acted as a grate for the hot coals
