Mushru cloth
Mushru Cloth, Mughal Period, late XVII-early XVIII century. Ikat dyed (indigo over cochineal). 'Mushru' means 'permitted'. Under the laws of the Koran pure silk could not be worn by men, but with cotton or linen wefts, it was permitted as a lining material for a garment at court.
