Portrait of Queen Charlotte
Artist: Unknown English, 16th century
pair of 'glass pictures' of George III and Queen Charlotte comtemporary. Prints were pasted on glass and the paper rubbed away sufficient enough to permit light to show through and give the effect of soft color. This 'trick' was popular in the XVIII c. when true color prints were not in vogue.
