Prayer Rug

Ladik Prayer Rug, red field with Rhodian lilies in pale blue below the niche; pale blue spandrel with geometric design and mosque lamps. Fine borders, the main one carrying the Rhodian lily alternating with a rosette on a drak blue ground. Sides and top worn away; panel below the niche worn down to warp; needs restoring badly. Warp, dyed wool; woof, natural wool; Ghiordes knot. Wool. Cleaned and repaired by Jamgotch, Summer 1941.
