Casket
casket with iron key, in the form of a 'coffre-fort de Nurenberg'; the four corners, center back, front, and top panels are bound with cut out engraved copper appliques held by iron rivets, the appliques on cover pivots to disclose keyhole to the steel lock exposed on the under side of cover, brass finials decorate top edge of cover; surface of box covered with engraved designs: on top figures in provincial northern European dress of the late XVI or early XVII century appear between floral scrolls; the bottom carries a landscape scene; four brass ball feet; (the coofre-forts de Nuremberg are attributed to Michelmann of Germany)
