Woman's blouse (Huipil)
Three panel huipil; square cut neck opening; white ground; embroidered neck and randas; machine sewn pleats parallel below randa. Lower half is plain white; upper half supplementary weft patterning; brocade in yellow, burgundy and lavender with one red band at mid-section; pattern consists of tree form flanked by birds facing away from tree; bird-tree pattern separated by a foliage motif. Red row is a smaller version of the others, approx. 2 3/16" high, others 3 1/8". Except for red row, all others separated by a narrow band of feathered serpent motif; executed in same colors as pattern. Embroidered neck has flowers surrounding neck opening; four birds take up position at corners, include one peacock, one quetzal, and two unidentified.
